Healthy LIfestyle?

Just when I think I’ve heard it all!  In a recent issue of Health magazine, actress Brooke Shields says that she regrets being a virgin for so long.  Shields admits that she lost her virginity at age 22, but believes she would have been happier with her body image had she become sexually active at a younger age.  She quotes, “I think I would have been much more in touch with myself.  I think I wouldn’t have had issues with weight.  And to me that is a health regret.”

Are you serious?  A health regret!  So, by having sex earlier, we can live healthier lives?  What a dumb statement!  I have never heard any woman tell me that she missed out by not having sex earlier in life.  If anything most folks say they wish they would have waited.  Most of us if we are willing to be honest, would agree that when we first had sex, it was a huge mistake!  I wonder if Brooke has any daughters?  And if she does, I wonder if she is going to tell them to have sex earlier rather than wait so they will be more healthy.  I mean come on Brooke!

The bible tells us to flee sexual immorality. (1 Corinthians 6:18) That means we should run whenever we are put in the situation to engage in sexual activities outside of Gods design.   God tells us that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in us.  He tells us that we were bought with a price.  Therefore we should always honor God with our bodies. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)   Most of us know this, but we don’t apply it to our lives.  I know I didn’t when I was a teenager.

Finally, we all must be careful with the words that come out of our mouths.  God says, we will give account for every careless word we have spoken.  (Matthew 12:36)  I continue to confess to God daily and ask forgiveness for all the stupid things that I allow to come out of my mouth.  I can only hope that Brooke feels the same way.

FREE AT LAST!

Well if you have been watching the sports news you have seen that the talented Michael Vick has been released from federal prision after serving 19 months for supporting a dog fighting ring.  It is so interesting to hear all the comments over this situation.  You can really get a since of someone’s world view based on what they have to say about Michael Vick.  Many feel as if the punishment fit the crime.  I on the other hand do not!  Now before you start getting all high and holy on me let me explain.

Congress just passed a law that will allow 18 year old girls to purchase the morning after pill with out a presciption.  Our own President is in favor of and says he will fight for a womans right to choose.  But he claims his personal belief is one of pro-choice, explain that one!  Anyway, so you mean to tell me we care more about dogs, than we do about the unborn?  We are fighting for animals to have rights, but we won’t fight for our next generation?

Look, what Michael Vick did was wrong, I will be the first to admit that.  But something seems seriously wrong when we will send a man to jail for dog fighting, but allow a woman to do whatever she wants with “her body.”  If it isn’t obvious yet, I am pro-life.  I guess this shouldn’t surprise me.  The bibles says in the last days men will be lovers of themselves…having a form of godliness but denying its power. (2 Timothy 3:2-5)

People it is time for all of us to wake up and see what is really going on around us.  We are so concerned about stimulus checks that we are neglecting to see that our country is morally going in the toilet.  It won’t be long before hunting will be outlawed all together and yet abortion will be allowed to happen whenever someone fills its appropiate.  Well I quess I will get off my soap box now, besides whats good for you may not be good for me, but we just need in the words of our president, ” to find common ground.”

STOP THE MADNESS!

Recently I had a conversation with a young student in our wonderful public school system.  He has not grown up in church and so his mind has been polluted with the theory of evolution.  I asked him why he believed that we evolved from monkeys.  He said, “because I have a hard time believing that God created everything we see.”  I then said, “but you believe that one day two rocks crashed into one another, and those particles dropped into the sea.  Then out of no where fish came to be.  These fish, then decided to get out of the sea and form animals.  Then one day the animals decided they didn’t want to walk on all fours, so they became monkeys.  Then for no explainable reason at all, the monkeys turned into humans?  To which he said, “well I guess.”  I said, ”well my friend, you have more faith than I do.”

I just read this morning that scientist have found a small 47 million-year-old skeleton in Germany.  They believe that quote “it will provide a window into primate evolution.”  Then the article goes on to say, “It is not a direct ancestor of monkeys and humans, but it provides a good indicatioin of what such an ancestor may have looked like,”  People, please stop the madness!  No wonder my young high school student is so messed up, he has nonsense like this to fall back on.

The bible says, The heavens declare the glory of God, the skies proclaim the work of his hands.  Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge.  there is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. (Psalm 19:1-3)  It is a fact that the earth is positioned just far enough from the sun to allow us to exists as we are.  If we were even one degree closer, we would burn up.  If we were one degree furthur, we would freeze to death.  If that doesn’t give proof that there is a God in heaven who created everything that we see.  I don’t know what else can.

I have a friend who has been through a terrible month of pain and suffering.  As we talked the other day he said, “although I am going through this difficult trial, I know that God will bring me through.”  What a great attitude!  Recently I too was going through a trial.  Unlike my friend, my attitude wasn’t so good.  I seemed to complain and murmur alot, wondering why God was allowing the circumstance into my life.

I know that there are many of us that go through things that we wish we didn’t have to.  But the fact still remains that often times you and I must go through the rainy seasons of life, in order to see the flowers.  James 1:2-4 tell us to count it all joy when we fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of our faith produces patience.  But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.  Boy that seems easier said than done, doesn’t it?

My encouragement to you who are going through difficult times right now is to keep the faith.  Continue to trust in God who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all that we could ever ask or think. (Ephesians 3:20)  Finally, let me leave you with some words from the Apostle Paul.  My beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. (1 Corinthians 15:58)
