Recently I was having lunch with a Pastor friend of mine who told me how disappointed he was that he had to fire two of his staff members for having an immoral relationship.  The first question that came to my mind was, how does this happen?  I have come to believe that this happens when the devil gets followers of Jesus to buy into the ultimate lie.

What is the ultimate lie, you might be asking yourself?  Shhh….Nobody has to every know.  This idea is so popular that even tourist attractions are getting into the mix.  For example Las Vegas, Nevada has coined the phrase, “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.”  They have simply copied the same lie that the devil has been telling since the beginning of time.

I heard another Pastor friend say something brilliant on this subject.  He said, “what happens in Vegas doesn’t stay in Vegas, because what happens in Vegas stays in you.”  No matter whether you have been or desire to go to Las Vegas or not, we all have a Vegas in our lives.

For some it is Geographical, it is a place that tempts us to hide our immorality.  For others its relational, it is a person who makes us fantasize about immorality.  Then there are those whose vegas is technological, and comes from the internet.  No matter what your vegas is there is one essential truth about them all.  Like Las Vegas, Nevada, your vegas promises the big pay day, but in the end will only lead to broken promises and heartache.

So the message is very clear.  You and I need to stay away from Vegas.  Ephesians 5:3 says but among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.
