Just Keep Quiet

I read an article recently about Cleveland Browns star wide receiver Braylon Edwards.  It seems Braylon was speeding in his bentley about 120mph, when a police officer pulled him over.  The report says that once the officer figured out it was Braylon Edwards that he let him go with a warning.

Now I know there are some of you who are getting angry right now, because of all the celebrities who get out of similar situations simply because of who they are.  You are probably saying to yourself, “that’s just not fair.”  Well for you I have good news.  It seems that Braylon did get a ticket for the incident, it came two weeks later.

It turns out that a local news channel in Ohio called the police chief and asked why Mr. Edwards was not awarded a ticket for going 60 miles over the speed limit.  The police chief did some digging and suspended the star struck police officer and issued a ticket to Braylon.  I assume some of you are a little less angry now.

So you probably think I will use this as a spiritual parallel to, you reap what you sow.  While that would be a good lesson to learn, that is not the direction I am going.  Follow me here.  The only way the news station found out, was because they over heard Braylon bragging about it in the locker room.

The spiritual principal comes from Proverbs 17:28, Even a fool is counted wise when he hold his peace; when he shuts his lips, he is considered perceptive.  Point, sometimes its better just to shut up.  There are many folks that just talk way too much.  Solomon wrote another proverb 10:19, when words are many, sin is not absent, but he who holds his tongue is wise.

Learn from Mr. Edwards lets just learn to keep our mouths shut.
